This was a comment by Dr. Jim Fay on the blog from yesterday on Clergy Comments.
Those that hit the Blog to check for new blogs may not always bring up the comments. I believe this is one that should be read by all, so I am posting it as a blog. God Bless
Dear Jimmy:
I don't think this topic can be overemphasized. There is a goldmine of "converted" talent out there ready and willing to serve Christ and his Church.
A comment on four points of emphasis from the bog:
I. "I do not believe any of my converted brothers feel that their ministry was wrong or “Spiritual Illegal.”
Before we were Catholic we did the best we could do with what we knew about Christ, the Bible, and ministry. Most of us have respectable academic credentials and field experience.
II. "And do not believe that the people we left behind are not saved. There is Salvation outside the Catholic Church."
Many Catholics and Protestants have misunderstandings about Salvation.
Some Catholics believe Protestants are not saved. Some Protestants believe Catholics are not saved. This is not necessarily true.
For example, baptism outside of the Church is considered valid. In reality, there are people on both sides of the fence that "don't get it" when it comes to the Gospel.
III. "We miss fellowship with clergy."
And how! We miss preaching and teaching as well as the camaraderie among pastors. We have sacrificed much but none of us regret our allegiance to the Bishop of Rome.
IV. "That truth is “Real Presence” of the Lord, in the Eucharist."
As a convert we now realize that nothing is as important as the fullness of Jesus in the Eucharist.
This and other apostolic truths have become for us the "pearl of great price." There is nothing in this life as exciting and satisfying as being part of the Church that has prevailed for almost 2,000 years!
